TMD (Toshiba Matsushita Display) has produced a LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel for PCs that achieves a degree of brightness and color gamut that is similar to that of LCD TV. A company spokesperson confirmed that mass production of the 15.4-inch, TFT (Thin-Film-Transistor) LCD panel has already begun.

 

The company claims that the new panel scores 44% higher in color gamut and 58% higher in brightness than other conventional low-temperature, TFT LCD panels. The move by TMD is seen as a strategic response to growing demand for LCD PC panels that are capable of displaying high-quality moving images.
